Gaps flagged before you reach the portal

The PR Portal asks for your addresses and activities over the last five years, or since you became a PR, with no gaps. The interview checks your dates as you answer.

How it works

  1. Enter

    Add your addresses (4.1) and activities (4.2), most recent first. Leave "To" empty for today.

  2. See

    A bar under each table shows the period covered, with any gap marked and listed by date.

  3. Fix

    Change a date and the check runs again. Nothing stops you moving on; the answer sheet marks what is left.

What is checked

Gaps

A whole month missing from 4.1 or 4.2 is an error. A gap of a few days is a note to look at.

Overlaps

Overlapping address or activity rows get a note. Overlapping trips in 5.5 are an error.

Dates that cannot be right

An end before its start, a date in the future, or a birth date after your PR date.

  • The period is the portal's: from your PR date, or five years back if that is later, to today
  • One row's "To" can be the next row's "From": a shared day is not an overlap
  • Also checked: UCI digits, postal codes, phone numbers and the portal's 1,500-character limits

Is it free?
Yes. The checks run in the free interview. No account, and your answers stay in this browser.
Why is a gap of a few days only a note?
A gap that holds a whole calendar month is flagged as an error. A shorter one is shown as a note, so you can check the dates.
What if I did not work or study for a while?
Add a row for that period anyway. Write the activity that applies, such as unemployed, homemaker, retired or volunteering.
Does it check my CBSA travel history?
No. It checks only the dates you enter. The CBSA travel history guide shows how to rebuild your trips from your own records.
Can I continue with a gap still flagged?
Yes. Fix it now or continue anyway. The answer sheet shows what is left, in red, with a button back to its step.
