A file that fits is kept as is. A larger one is compressed, gently first, until it fits.

The boxes for your answers are ticked on your own copy of the checklist.

A PDF that had to be turned into page images comes with a note to check its text is readable
A PDF that opens without a password but is protected is saved again without the protection
Two or more proofs of residency can be combined into one PDF, if it fits under the limit
An iPhone HEIC photo or a password-locked PDF is refused, with what to do instead

Download IMM 5644 from the PR Portal's Forms table and add it in step 6. The boxes for your answers are ticked on that copy; you upload it back in the same row.

Edition 12-2024, English or French. Any other file is refused with a note.
Also ticked when your answers call for it: IMM 5476 or IMM 5475, humanitarian and compassionate grounds, a legal name change, IRM forms, an applicant under 18

Questions about the document pack

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. They are processed and kept in this browser. Clearing your browser data deletes them.

What if a file is still over 4 MB?

For a PDF, you are asked to split it into two files, for example one per year, and add both. For an image, crop it or take a smaller photo.

Which IMM 5644 does it take?

The PDF you download from the PR Portal's Forms table, edition 12-2024, in English or French. Any other file is refused with a note.

Can I see the result before paying?

Yes. Step 6 shows each file's new name, its size and what was done to it. Downloading needs Files only or Everything.

Do I have to combine my proofs of residency?

No. The portal takes each file on its own. Combining is your choice, and it only happens if the result fits under 4 MB.
